At James River Nurseries, we believe in investing in the next generation, and what better way to do that than by sharing our passion for the green industry? Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting a group of bright and enthusiastic students from Goochland High School at our facilities. The visit was packed with hands-on demonstrations and valuable insights into landscaping and hardscape work.

Hands-On Learning: Hardscapes and Tree Digging

Our Hardscape Department kicked things off with an engaging demonstration on laying pavers. The students learned about the precision and craftsmanship that goes into creating beautiful, durable outdoor spaces. From planning to execution, they got a firsthand look at the skills involved in hardscape installation.

Next, our Farm Crew wowed the group with a tree-digging demonstration. The students observed how trees are carefully dug, handled, and prepared for transplanting, gaining a deeper appreciation for the technical aspects of nurturing and relocating greenery.

Shaping a Bright Future Together

It was truly rewarding to see the students' enthusiasm and curiosity throughout the visit. Their eagerness to learn and ask questions reaffirmed our belief that the future of landscaping and hardscapes is in good hands. These young learners represent the next generation of skilled professionals who will continue to shape and beautify our world.

A big thank you to Goochland High School for allowing us to share our passion and expertise. Together, we’re helping to cultivate a rewarding and lifelong career path in the green industry.
